Epson is Known for Redefi ning the Way The Printing
Industry Does Business
We’ve forever changed the way contract-quality proofs are produced
for both commercial and fl exographic prints. And now, Epson has
developed an entirely new method for producing true aluminum
lithographic printing press plates.
Introducing the All-New Epson Stylus Pro 7900
Computer to Plate System
Representing a new way of producing aluminum printing press
plates, the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 Computer to Plate (CTP) system
incorporates our latest achievements in high-resolution ink jet
technology, along with a new aluminum press plate developed
specifi cally for Epson. The result? A new generation CTP solution that
will dramatically lower your plate production costs, while delivering
amazing print quality on press.
Epson DirectPlate Aluminum — The Future of CTP
Epson DirectPlate technology is an all-new high-resolution
aluminum press plate, chemically coated to work with our standard
Epson UltraChrome
®
HDR Ink technology. Capable of press resolutions
up to 175 lpi, Epson DirectPlate technology is capable of press runs
of up to 20,000 impressions. And no chemicals or messy processing
is required. It doesn’t get any easier than this.
Consistent. Reliable. Economical.
Epson DirectPlate technology will match or even exceed the fi nal
press quality you’re used to, while providing your printing business
with a consistent and reliable true aluminum press plate workfl ow.
And because each plate is produced using our latest high-resolution ink
jet printing technology, your total investment costs, daily production, and
monthly maintenance expenses are either eliminated or dramatically
reduced. You’ll never go back to polyester plates again.
The Complete Solution
Unlike other CTP solutions, the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 CTP system
comes complete. It includes the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer, modifi ed
for easy plate loading, the Plate Curing Unit, an EFI front-end CTP
RIP workfl ow and even a starter set of inks and plates. It's quite possibly
the easiest way to acquire a true aluminum CTP solution for your
printing business.
And, because no special inks are required, the Epson Stylus Pro 7900
CTP can also be used to make high-quality press proofs, imposition
proofs and even high-quality, short-run posters using the same device.
The Best Way to Acquire a True Aluminum
Computer to Plate Solution
Imagine a computer to plate solution that’s actually a joy to use. Imagine
no more chemicals to deal with, no more processor maintenance and
no more expensive monthly electrical and maintenance bills. Imagine
freeing up more shop fl oor space and now having the ability to print
high-quality proofs and posters. Imagine fi nal press print quality that will
blow your customers away. And imagine producing true aluminum press
plates at a signifi cantly lower total cost of ownership than your current
polyester solution.

Manufacturing
In order to ensure consistent printing between multiple Epson Stylus
Pro printers of the same model, Epson has refi ned the manufacturing
process to include colorimetric calibration. This process evaluates and
adjusts each printer’s performance at the manufacturing stage, ensuring
consistent color output from printer to printer and print to print.

A Based upon print engine speed only. Total throughput times depend upon front-end
RIP, fi le size, printer resolution, ink coverage, networking, etc. Normal Mode based on
SuperFine — 1440 dpi. Plate speeds are based upon a 13" x 19" (full bleed) plate size
at 1440 x 1440 unidirectional printing.
B Cartridge yields vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings,
temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or
predominantly with one ink color. A variable amount of ink remains in the cartridge
after the “replace cartridge” signal. Part of the ink from the fi rst cartridges is used for
priming the printer. Ink is used for both printing and print head maintenance. All inks
are used for both black and color printing. For more information about cartridges see
www.epson.com/cartridgeinfo
C Ink lightfastness rating based on accelerated testing of prints on specialty media
displayed indoors under glass. Actual print stability will vary according to media,
printed image, display conditions, light intensity, humidity and atmospheric
conditions. Epson does not guarantee longevity of prints. For maximum print life,
display all prints under glass or lamination or properly store them. Ratings are not
applicable to plates. Visit www.wilhelm-research.com for the latest information.
D Additional plate sizes may be available. Contact your dealer if your plate size
is not listed.
