Initialization

By observing how the scanner acts during initialization, you can

make sure it is operating properly before you connect it to your

computer.

1. Open the document cover so you can see the operation of the

scanner during initialization.

2. Turn on the scanner by pressing the

OPERATE

button

At this time, the carriage moves towards the front of the scanner

slightly. Next, the fluorescent lamp on the carriage flashs for about

10 seconds while the carriage moves forward and back. Finally the

carriage returns to its original position, and then the

READY

indicator

lamp lights.
