Freehand
Most programs dont need to have a PPD file
loaded when you print, however newer
versions of Macromedia Freehand require
that you have a PPD available. The PPD
files on a MAC are located in the Macintosh
HD>Applications>FastRIP>PPD folder. The
PPDs will be called FastRIPTM _STYL
(printer#).ppd.
1. To print from Freehand, go to
File>Print. Expand the General menu
and select Freehand.
2. Under Print Setting, select +Quality PS Level 2. Put a check by Use PPD. Click
on the box with the three dots to browse for your printers PPD.
3. Click on Setup.
4. Choose the Separations tab and
Select Separations. Click on each
spot color to set the angle.
5. Expand the Halftone screen and
select Other. Set the LPI and click
Ok.
6. Choose the Page Setup tab and
set the appropriate Page Size.
7. Click Ok to exit Print Setup
window.
8. You are now ready to print.
How to print complex files
Files created in Vector-based programs like Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand,
CorelDraw, or QuarkXPress can create complex files. FastRIP
TM
has an option called
Complex Line Art that will send the data to FastRIP
TM
as one piece instead of in
sections. Not all files will need the Complex Line Art option, but if your image has
complex shapes, gradients, transparencies or heavy use of the mesh tool then you
might wish to use the Complex Line Art option before printing .
