Aligning the print head using the
control panel
Select AUTO to correct any head misalignment
automatically to obtain optimum printing results.
If you select MANUAL, you need to check the pattern
and enter the value for alignment.
Note:
You cannot use Plain Paper for automatic alignment.
Setting the paper type and paper thickness
Set the paper type for the Epson special media, and set
the paper thickness for the non-Epson media.
A
Make sure that the roll paper or one sheet of A4/
Letter size or larger paper is loaded in the printer.
Make sure to set the paper correctly according
to the paper.
See “Paper Handling” on page 28

Press the button to enter the Menu mode.

Press the / button to select HEAD
ALIGNMENT, and then press the
button.

Press the / button to select PAPER
THICKNESS, and then press the
button.
E
Set the paper type or paper thickness
depending on the paper you set in the printer.
Epson special media:
1. Press the
/ button to select SELECT
PAPER TYPE, and then press the
button.
2. Press the
/ button to select the paper
type you set in the printer, and then press the
button.
Non-Epson media:
1. Press the
/ button to select SELECT
THICKNESS, and then press the
button.
2. Press the
/ button to select a paper
thickness value between 0.1 and 1.5 mm, and
then press the
button.
See the manual that comes with the paper for
the paper thickness.

Press the button twice for non-Epson
media or three times for Epson special media.

Aligning the print head automatically

Press the / button to select ALIGNMENT,
and then press the
button.

Select AUTO, and press the button.
C
Press the / button to select BI-D
2-COLOR, and then press the
button.
D
Press the button to print the pattern.
The adjustment pattern for output is read by
the sensor and the optimum adjustment value
is registered automatically in the printer.
If you are not satisfied with the result of this
alignment, select BI-D ALL.
If you are not satisfied with the result of the
BI-D ALL alignment, try UNI-D.
You can also align the print head individually
by selecting BI-D #1, BI-D #2, BI-D #3, or
BI-D #4. Select an ink dot size from BI-D #1 to
BI-D #4 depending on the media you use and
the print mode you want to try.
