Epson 4800 with FastRIP
TM
HD Pro HS
Congratulations on purchasing FastRIP
TM
Pro, the affordable PostScript printing
solution for non-PostScript printers. PostScript is an industry-standard scripting
language that describes the text and graphic elements of a print job. When FastRIP
TM
processes a print job, these PostScript elements are used to generate a raster image (a
series of horizontal lines) that the printer is capable of rendering. The printer will then
print your image one raster line at a time.
FastRIP
TM
performs the task of a Raster Image Processor (RIP), not only handling
PostScript interpretation, but also performing high-speed memory management of the
raster image and the spooling of multiple jobs to the printer. FastRIP
TM
utilizes Virtual
Memory (VM) disk processing to do this. VM processing means PostScript file size
limitations have been nearly eliminated.
FastRIP
TM
HD Pro High Speed uses four ink cartridges for printing film positives along
with a new RIP technology called Variable Dot. Variable Dot allows more control over
size of dot while achieving a higher LPI (lines per inch) at a lower resolution. With
FastRIP
TM
HD Pro HS you will now be able to print an LPI from 10 LPI to 180 LPI,
dramatically increasing print speed while maintaining proper ink density.
FastRIP
TM
HD PRO High Speed (HS) version 8.5
Supports PostScript Level 3 Images
Supports printing images up to 17 in width and length
Supports Left and Right borderless bleed printing on certain page sizes

Cartridge Placement
The Epson 4800 ink cartridge slots of Light
Magenta, Light Cyan, Light Black and Light Light
Black (slot 5, 6, 7 & 8) have been replaced with
FastINK
TM
. FastINK
TM
is a Photo Black, dye-
based ink that replaces the original Epson ink
that was not dense enough for burning
screens.
Rosette Print Mode
Rosette Halftone is a print mode created
specifically for halftone screening. The
Rosette Print Mode uses a rosette halftone and simulated print mode that are all set to
25 degree angles. Printing as simulated is not recommended for color matching, its
more of an idea of what the angle set does.
